THE PERSON BEHIND

IN SHORT

Ulrike is a Product & Fashiondesigner based in Berlin.

Her expertise and focus lays in Bags and other Leathergoods.

Since January 2019 she is working on a freelance basis for brands and productions within Europe and Asia.

PHILOSOPHY

„DESIGN HAS TO WORK, ART DOES NOT.“

Donald Judd

Seeing this quote as a general guideline for her work,

Ulrikes main driver is to combine material, aesthetic and functionality into its best version.

On the base of a deep technical understanding she loves to challenge existing constructions,

in order to bring items to a more defined level.

BACKGROUND

Ulrike graduated from Akademie JAK, Hamburg in 2007.

Already during her studies, she specialized in leather and kept that focus ever since.

From 2007 - 2011 she worked on the Accessories & Shoe collections

of the berlin-based luxury label KAVIAR GAUCHE.

In 2011 she took the position as main Accessories & Leather Goods Designer

for ZALANDO’s private labels.

For 7 years she designed and actively shaped the look and feel of

several accessory lines within the company.

Such as ZALANDO COLLECTION, KIOMI, MINT & BERRY and ZIGN.

Having worked in high fashion, as well as for commercial brands,

she developed a sharp eye for different markets and customer needs.

Besides her work as designer, Ulrike successfully started to conduct workshops for professionals and students.

She sets the main focus on the characteristics of leather and its process of manufacture.

The aim is to give a better understanding on the particularities in creating leathergoods.
